Clinical Professor and
Director of Hip Arthroscopy

The labrum can be affected by the ball of the thigh bone or the socket (acetabulum) it fits into. The socket can be too deep, it can extend more than normal, or it can be damaged when people play repetitive sports. The result may be that the labrum is pinched by hip movement and pain occurs.

As with femur repair, arthroscopy can often be used to repair thigh socket abnormalities. Dr. Bharam removes the impinging portion of bone, creating space for normal, pain-free motion of the hip.
