Some people’s thighs are not properly rotated – in other words, they are somewhat twisted – and this can cause the patient to walk improperly. It can also cause damage to the hip joint and surrounding area. Sometimes, loose or damaged tissue or a small bone ridge is causing the problem. In these cases, Dr. Bharam will see if less invasive arthroscopy can be used to remove the loose material or the excess bone.
However, at times more extensive surgery is needed to straighten the alignment. This can involve inserting a metal plate into the thigh bone to correct its position.
