Comments: After going from doctor to doctor (most called themselves specialists!), I finally was diagnosed with a labral tear. All it took was an MRI, but it seems like most doctors do not want to go through the "red tape" with the insurance company to get it approved. Finally my osteopathic manipulative doctor took the time to get it for me. The tear was caused by several bone spurs and they were just ripping it apart. This had been going on for at least the two years that I was seeing doctors and complaining that something was wrong with my hip. After finding the cause I was lucky enough to work with someone who had used Dr. Bharam the year before for the same issue. She had excellent results so I went to see him. I liked him from the 'get-go'. He ordered a few more tests and the CAT Scan showed the cause of the tear, the spurs. Dr. Bharam suggested surgery but he wasn't sure if he would be able to repair the labrum, or if he would have to remove it. My age, being well over 50, was the issue. Thank goodness when he did the surgery he was able to suture the labrum and repair it. It is now four months after surgery and I am 99% pain free. It does hurt a little with the weather and other things, but nothing like pre-surgery. Immediately following the surgery I was much better. I had some issues with leg swelling following surgery. Dr. Bharam spoke to me several times about this and always returned all my calls. Physical Therapy proceeded slowly because of the sutures, but after 3 months of PT I was good to go. I highly recommend Dr. Bharam for this type of proceedure.
